The Weird Circle brought a little something to our holiday party, the supernatural tale of a Christmas descent into desperation with a man named “Markheim!” Based on the short story by Robert Louis Stevenson, this Christmas classic features a young man confronting the dark impulses of his own dark reflection. Will his misdeeds come back to haunt him? Can he free himself from the malicious voice that pushes him toward evil? Just how did stocks work back in the 19th century? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think:

Does “Markheim” stand the test of time?

Eric,
As it happens, I heard a podcast this year that comes about as close as possible to explaining ‘Trading Places’. It’s a episode of Planet Money called ‘The Eddie Murphy Rule’, and if you have 26 minutes, it’s worth a listen. Thanks for all the great OTR podcasts. Here’s a link to that Planet Money. https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2013/07/09/200401407/episode-471-the-eddie-murphy-rule

Ok I just listened and I can’t thank you enough. Everything makes sense now. Everything in the world. I can finally cross this off my list of things to think about. Thank you.
