I loved this, much to my surprise. Never heard a radio episode, always quickly changed the channel when the show would pop up on tv, but wow, this was great! I was struck by how the guy said he rented a horse to get there, and I realize I’m silly and of course you could rent horses back then, but I kept picturing the line of kiosks outside the saloon Avis Rent-a-Horse, and Enterprise Horse Rental, that just bit of silliness gave me a giggle.

I really enjoyed this. The first OTR I ever listened to was a Radio Reruns cassette of The Lone Ranger that I had as a kid, featuring his origin story. I listened to that so many times that I can still recite bits of dialogue from memory, but I haven't listened to any Lone Ranger episodes as an adult, so I wasn't sure if the show would really appeal to my (ahem) more sophisticated, grown-up intellect. But this was better-written and more complexly plotted than I was expecting. It might not be a timeless classic, but it definitely stands the test of time.
