I’m shocked most people weren’t as impressed as I was. The last third was a roller coaster ride where I was in the car and never ahead of it – every time it looked like he would be saved I would have real hope and then when it looked like he wouldn’t be I would have real despair. When the funeral director was like, “I can make this call… BUT if I did I would be made fun of… BUT I have to do what was right” it was amazing suspense. And then “Ah. You said what I wanted you to say.” I was totally unironically undetachedly thinking “WHAT WHAT WHAT DID HE SAY!”

In my opinion this was a masterfully done piece of suspense.

(1972) dealt with the fact that firefighters and ambulance crews could not provide meaningful medical help, and with the legislative fight to pass paramedic legislation. This script was based on the efforts that in real life had led to California Governor Ronald Reagan signing the Wedworth-Townsend Act in 1970. I guess Canada was just ten years or so behind the U.S.
