Coincidentally, Oboler worked as a script doctor on the original run of "Big Town." He apparently had a hand in the 1937 premiere episode, which has hallmarks of his style and features one of his patented Scandinavian housekeeper characters. When I heard it, I remember thinking "I wonder if Oboler wrote this." So I looked it up and, sure enough, Mr. O was involved.

Incidentally, all those techniques we associate with Oboler -- the stream-of-consciousness, the self-referential "meta" stuff, et cetera -- were all used by Wyllis Cooper in the first two and a half years of the Lights Out series. Oboler was tasked with replicating Cooper's style and content when he took over the show. Just as Cooper reused a lot of his Lights Out ideas on Quiet Please, Oboler reused ideas from Cooper's scripts when he was working on his own. His classic "Chicken Heart" -- about a menacing, ever-growing heart that goes THUMP-THUMP! -- was partly inspired by an earlier Cooper script about a <span>menacing, ever-growing amoeba that goes SLURP-SLURP! And Cooper reused the same basic idea for QP's "One Hundred Thousand Diameters," about a menacing, ever-growing virus.</span>

So it wouldn't be a surprise if there's a lost Lights Out script of Cooper's that features him as a character or that he reused the idea for QP's "Where Do You Get Your Ideas?"
