Totally hate this. Dillinger is not relatable in any way. This is an early example of revenge porn. It also is building up this American West myth BS.

Dillion would absolutely bring his guns to hunt down these guys. He would most likely have gotten his ass handed to him in his final fight. But the myth is that that since Dillion is a 'real' man, he doesn't bring his guns, he wins his unmatched fight. Just full on toxic masculinity.

Also, the idea that the 'tattle tale' is so weak, even though he enables Dillion to carry out his vengeance. It is hilarious, but he should be chastising himself for not doing his own job. Will Dillion go home to learn to fight his own battles?

Also, that Dillion gets to just beat and torture these guys? Nothing to do with justice, nothing to do with heroes.

Dillion is more of a villain than anyone in this episode. The idea that a marshal is needed to handle a couple of drunks? Just a really stupid, overly macho story.

I've seen this title in various catalogs and websites over the years and, judging from the title, assumed it was a comedic episode. I totally misjudged it.A classic episode that packs a wallop,

I have a sentimental attachment to Gunsmoke. Some of my earliest memories are of visiting my grandfather in Indiana and watching Gunsmoke on TV with he and my parents. AT least one of them would always say "Gunsmoke was once on radio, but it was a lot better on radio". Being 4 or 5 years old, I couldn't understand how a western could be on radio. LOL...I figured it out eventually!

Thanks, guys!
