I am so glad it’s over. Not a fan of this series, for sure. Felt like the writers had a deadline and wrote whatever was on the mind at the time. The storyline felt disjointed and more of a serial for kids.

And oh, the Maestro. Ugh. The way he insisted that everyone worship him, based only on “miracles” he performed under suspiciously specific circumstances (i.e. obviously faked somehow), and anyone who refused to believe him was “delusional.”

As for the hypnotism thing; it does make a certain sense for the time period, as back then it was the hot new thing, and all kinds of myths cropped up about it. I think this would have been the same time frame where you had, like, six different movies using the premise of “past life regression hypnosis is actually time travel, I guess.” Doesn’t make it any less infuriating, but it does explain why Morse might have thought it was a good idea.

But, because the characters were so unlikeable, my only investment was to hear the solution. And not only does it hinge on crappy science, it claims to explain but absolutely does not explain a) how the dead body vanished, since the Maestro would have had to push it all the way out of the car in like ten seconds, without anyone noticing; or b) how Nasha got out from under three feet of sand and a massive boulder, whether or not the coffin had a latch on the underside.

Ugh. I’m just glad you guys have fun with it.
