Well, I didn’t enjoy this one nearly as much as you guys did. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t up to the quality of the best of Suspense. It was a perfectly acceptable crime drama, but I can’t call it a classic by Suspense standards. The first-person present-tense narration didn’t really work for me at first, and made it harder to get into the story, although I got used to it. First-person present-tense would work if it were supposed to be the character’s thoughts as the events are happening, but this told too many details and explained too much backstory… Read more »

Great observations as usual, Mr. Potts. You should really be hosting this podcast! While I enjoyed the story more than you, I whole-heartedly agree that second-person William Conrad narration makes everything better.

So that’s the challenge they set for themselves.
Holy Moley, did this story keep me in suspense!

So yes – timeless classic.
