We follow up last week with another episode written by Lucille Fletcher! This time we are listening to “Remodeled Brownstone” from Columbia Workshop. While her husband renovates their newly purchased Victorian home, a woman fears that their brownstone is haunted by a ghostly child. Is she simply imagining this spirit? How much renovation does it take to completely change a home? How on earth did the post-show conversation get to Matt Berry? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!

it was atmospheric and had some suspenseful moments. However, the woman playing the wife portrayed the part in too heavy-handed a way for me to be able to suspend disbelief. Compare Agnes Moorhead in Sorry, Wrong Number.

I find it fascinating how many parallels there are between this story and “The Yellow Wallpaper.” I’d be very surprised if Fletcher hadn’t read that story and been thinking about it while writing this. If so, she was a smarter reader of that story than most literary scholars of the time.
