I thoroughly enjoyed this, in part because I *didn’t* anticipate the final twist. (When a friendly cultist says “You’ll be the guest of honor at tonight’s feast,” I immediately leap to cannibalism.) Like the protagonist, I knew there was a catch, but also like him, its nature eluded me.
I appreciated how the script played with my loyalties. I started out rooting for the protagonist, especially as he was being dicked over by everyone he met, but by the end I was ready for Kali to take him.
