What’s on the other side of the world’s squeakiest door? Another episode of Inner Sanctum Mystery of course! This installment, entitled “The Voice on the Wire,” features a young widow who is being apparently haunted by the ghosts of her late husband and their dog. She hears his voice on the phone threatening her imminent death! Is it possible that one of the visitors she is entertaining is really to blame? What caused the death of her husband (and their dog)? I’ll admit I’ve had my sleeping pills and I’ve only listened once (in fact I’m still listening to the discussion) so I may have misheard but couple things are niggling at me… -The voice on the phone…I’m pretty sure only one of the men was with her each time the phone rang. I’m also pretty sure cell phones weren’t readily available and the houses are too far apart for the other man to run over and call. Thank you, Eric! I use to perform radio shows for a short period of time and The Voice on the Wire was one of my favorite parts to play. I grew up loving Gaslight and Midnight Lace so playing a person slowly unraveling was a dream. The fact that she isn’t truly a victim is even better. Add the outlandish plot, constant action, and terrible puns and it’s easily a guilty pleasure.
