Contrary to your thoughts, I found this episodes approach to the African-American roles disingenuous and condescending. The excessive use of the word “sir” made me uncomfortable and cringe while listening. I felt they were posing based on someone’s hollow boardroom decision, rather than actually living it out. (Not unlike so many do today.) Perhaps I’m viewing their era with an overly critical eye, considering where we are today…
