It’s a month of Thanksgiving and we are saying, “Thanks!” to some of our Patreon supporters! Our supporter Joseph asked that we listen to “The Silent Avenger,” an episode of The Shadow! A convict condemned to execution threatens the death of the judge, jurors, and governor. When his predicted victims start to turn up dead from bullet wounds, the Shadow begins a desperate search for the man fulfilling the convict’s threat! What grisly fate awaits the shooter? Why does the Shadow hold society responsible for these deaths? Can Orson Welles seriously not shut up for ten seconds even when the Shadow’s life depends on it? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!

Does “The Silent Avenger” stand the test of time?

This is such a great Shadow episode! I listened to this one with my grandpa once upon a time too.

Smuggins

Way too heavy handed morality play, which ultimately came out on the wrong side of history. The book “In The Garden of Beasts” gives the reader a good idea of just what people knew about Nazi Germany in 1933-ish, so to be “anti-war” in 1938 is a bit disingenuous. The writer is really against America stopping the Third Reich.

It is painful to see how incompetent The Shadow is made, in order for the writer to make their point and it really defies belief.
